A Walk in Your Woods Series - The Harvest Demonstration Forest 18 Years Later

Explore the Harvest Demonstration Forest Trail with Smithers Community Forest Society Director and retired Professional Forester, Bob Mitchell.
The trail was designed to show different styles of harvesting, ranging from horse logging to machine cut blocks and has examples of harvesting dating back as far as the 1940s. Now, 18 years after its construction the trail also demonstrates excellent stages of reforestation.
This walk will be a bit longer than usual but there will be options for people to head back early if they need to.
Meet at 12:00 noon at the Harvest Forest trail head just past the Cross Country ski trails approximately 9 km from town on Hudson Bay Mountain Road (ski hill road).
