Planning for the Crown-Settlement Lands Interface

Ray Chipeniuk, Adjunct Professor, UNBC School of Environmental Planning

During June 16-18, the Bulkley Valley Research Centre, in association with UNBC School of Environmental Planning adjunct professor Ray Chipeniuk, will present a conference on Planning for the Crown-Settlement Lands Interface. The “Interface” is the belt of land on either side of the line of contact between Crown and settled land – or, in the United States, between public and private land. In the first half of this presentation, Dr. Chipeniuk will explain what has motivated the decision to organize a conference on planning for the Interface and he will describe the structure and content of the conference program. Then, because Days 2 and 3 of the conference will include workshops in which cases for discussion are drawn from the Bulkley Valley, and because it is hoped that registrants for the conference will include many local residents, Dr. Chipeniuk will invite comments and suggestions from the audience.
