Valley residents invited to comment on Summer Recreation Plan progress - February 22
Residents interested in backcountry recreation management in the Bulkley Timber Supply Area are encouraged to attend a public meeting regarding progress on the Summer Recreation Access Management Plan (RAMP).
The Summer RAMP process, a project of the Bulkley Valley Community Resources Board (BVCRB), began in September. Table participants include eight representatives from local summer recreation organizations and four representatives of the public at large. A professional facilitator guides the process.
At the upcoming meeting there will be a short presentation on the Summer RAMP process, maps and handouts showing decisions made to date, and an explanation of ways the public can provide input. Table members and the facilitator will be present and there will be an opportunity for informal networking following the short presentation.
“The goal is to create a plan that has the support of as much of the community as possible,” said BVCRB Vice-Chair Ben Heemskerk. “Feedback from the public will allow the table participants to ensure all of the major summer recreation issues are considered.”
Meeting details:
When: Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30 pm
Where: Northwest Community College, 3966 2nd Avenue, Smithers
Funding for the RAMP process generously contributed by Recreation Sites and Trails BC and the Real Estate Foundation of BC, with additional support provided by the Bulkley Valley Research Centre and Northwest Community College.
