Introducing: Toonie talks!
The BVRC has introduced Twoonie Talks as part of our ongoing successful Wednesday seminar series. The lunchtime talks now cost $2 for non-members, but remain free for members.
A Non-Profit Society & Community Education
The BVRC is an independent, not-for-profit society whose mission is to support research for better stewardship of our natural resources as well as provide a forum for people and institutions to address natural resource management challenges in the 21st century. We create learning and extension opportunities for the public - and the seminars are one of these opportunities. The speakers put a lot of time and energy into these presentations and we are very fortunate to them for working with the BVRC and presenting their research and expertise to the community at large (in Smithers and across Northern BC).
Consider Becoming a BVRC Member
The $2 fee helps cover costs to host such events, and you are always welcome to become a member! We currently have three membership categories:
If you are purchasing a membership for yourself then the individual membership is for you. This membership entitles you to all BVRC membership benefits.
This membership is for organizations and businesses. If you are a commercial entity, large or small, and wish to take advantage of BVRC’s benefits for yourself and your employees then this membership is for you.
Not-for-profit and Educational Institutions
We value the relationships we have with other non-profit organizations and educational institutions and are pleased to offer this unique membership.
Organizations and businesses wishing to support the BVRC can become Supporting Members by donating $2,000 annually. Supporting Members are extremely important to the Centre. These donations contribute to the leadership, staffing and expertise necessary to effectively manage the Centre and implement our extensive and diverse research program.
Another new addition to the seminar series that the BVRC has introduced is the Refreshments Club! This is still a work in progress, and we are hopeful that it will be a continued success. We invite clubs and organizations within the community that are interested in fundraising opportunities. To date, we have had the BV Band Boosters and The Smithers Robotics Club join us, selling refreshments and drinks, by donation. All proceeds go towards their fundraising efforts; another way to help out in the community through networking and education! If you or your organization may be interested in attending a seminar, please get in touch anytime.
We love our community; we appreciate your understanding and all that you do! Please don't hesitate if you have any questions about the seminar series, membership opportunities, or our work at the BVRC.
See you at the next Twoonie Talk!
