Bob Mitchell

Bob Mitchell was an RPF with the Ministry of Forests in the Bulkley Valley for 30 years, and is now retired. He was the Stewardship Officer responsible for reviewing Forest Stewardship Plans, planning Forest Revitalization and Silviculture with First Nations, Dothistroma and Bark Beetle Management, Forest and Range Evaluation Monitoring, Timber Supply Area Plans, and Strategic Planning with First Nations. Over the years he has served on numerous land use planning committees dealing with the management of natural resources and outdoor recreation. He is a director for the Smithers Community Forest Society, a member of the Northeast Slope Trails Group and he is on town of Smithers Advisory Planning Committee. He is interested in research because it is the basis for all good forest planning, and believes that the Bulkley Valley has the best plans because it has the best research and researchers.
Besides his work, Bob enjoys a range of outdoor recreation activities, including cross country skiing, jogging with his dog Dodger, hiking, gardening, astronomy, biking and trail improvement.
