Whitebark Pine
A team led by Bulkley Valley Research Centre researcher and president Sybille Haeussler has been studying whitebark pine plots south of Smithers. The tree, which is high in ecological value and supports a complex ecosystem, has been the victim of rapid decline in recent years and its loss, along with it the intricate web of biodiversity it supports, is a concern for biologists.
