Whitebark Pine

A team led by Bulkley Valley Research Centre researcher and past-president Sybille Haeussler has been studying whitebark pine plots south of Smithers. The tree, which is high in ecological value and supports a complex ecosystem, has been the victim of rapid decline in recent years and its loss, along with it the intricate web of biodiversity it supports, is a concern for biologists. See Projects 2011-13 and 2009-06.
