Project Reference Number: 2006-14

Project Status: Active

Funded by: Ministry of Forests and Range, Transfer Payment

The purpose of the project is to re-measure western balsam bark beetle (IBB) inventory plots for Timber Supply Review in the Kispiox and Cranberry TSAs. These plots were established in 2001 in the Kispiox to quantify the unsalvaged losses in ESSF stands to western balsam bark beetle. The cruise plot data from these plots were compared to timber supply analysis estimates for the same stands. These are permanent sample plots, and it is time for them to be re-measured to determine continued losses to western balsam bark beetle and to estimate regeneration in these stands. The data will be used for estimating losses to this insect. This information can be used in TSR III.
