Outreach & Education
The BVRC regularly conducts outreach and education events to increase awareness about the ecology and management of endangered whitebark pine and their ecosystems in northern British Columbia.Some examples:
- Presentation to Smithers school children in fall 2024, 2023, 2022.
- Smithers school cone shucking in 2022.
- Virtual presentation at the international High Elevation Five Needle Pine Conference (September 2021).
- Field trip with Bulkley Valley Naturalists to explore & document a rare whitebark pine ecosystem near Houston, BC (August 2021)
- Hudson Bay Mountain excursion with BV Naturalists and Wetzin’Kwa Community Forest, September 2015
- Nenikȅkh/Nanika-Kidprice whitebark restoration brochure with BC Parks, spring 2015
- Assisted with Wildfires and Whitebark Pine information sign, Morice Lake Park, spring 2014
