About the workshop
Learn how to identify plants and different uses for plants with Dr. Carla Burton! This two-day workshop involves a morning introductory lecture on Ethnobotany followed by a “how to identify plants” lecture.
We will be using devil's club to make salve and fruit leather. Once finished, participants will can the salve in jars to take home.

About Dr. Carla Burton
Carla is an independent researcher operating from her home office as Symbios Research and Restoration, and an adjunct professor at UNBC in the Ecosystem and Science Management program. Her current work includes ethnobotanical research, vegetation monitoring and teaching. Over the past twelve years, she has worked extensively with the Nisga'a and other First Nations in the Northwest to document their traditional plant use.

Saturday April 6th: 10am - 3pm
Sunday April 7th: 9am - 10am
Materials Required
- Please bring a pair of work gloves and a paring knife (for peeling the devil's club)
- A bag lunch (Saturday)
- Feel free to contribute berries for the fruit leather, if you have extra on hand!
Cost
$30 - members | $40 - non-members | Same rate applies for kids 10+ and adults.

Please note: Spaces are limited. Registrations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Kids must be supervised by a parent/guardian and all participants must be registered.
