Helicopter drones (as well as fixed wing) have garnered significant attention in the last couple years. In the forest sector, many see the many potential uses and benefits of this tool. But, once you get past the buzz, are expectations unrealistic? Larry McCulloch and Matt Sakals provide a few examples of the types of imagery that can be captured and results that can be produced after image acquisition, as well as a summary of the many barriers, trials, and tribulations one will encounter when planning on using this tool. The pair hopes to do a live demo and end with a brain storming session on end-uses for the technology.
