Wednesday April 29, 2015 12:00pm-1:00pm
Northwest Community College - Smithers

Don Morgan, a natural resource management and systems researcher with the Ministry of Environment, will present the results from a natural resource assessment case study in the Morice watershed. Morgan will discuss methods used to characterize historic and future landscape condition and the implications for key terrestrial and aquatic components – salmon habitat, grizzly bears, moose and terrestrial biodiversity. Included in this presentation will be links with current assessment and monitoring initiatives including Morice watershed monitoring data and the methods used for the case study are being applied to the Skeena watershed to understand alternative development and ecological pathways, and the role of current resource management decision-making in shaping those potential futures.
