Melissa is a writer, editor, and communications professional who grew up in Burnaby, BC. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and has published articles, creative non-fiction and poetry in various magazines and journals. Melissa relocated to Smithers in 2012, where she has worked at the Bulkley Valley Museum and Smithers Public Library, in addition to providing freelance communications services. She also sits on the Board of the Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council. Melissa spends much of her time with her daughter Lumina, who is proving to be her most challenging and fascinating teacher.
In her role at the BVRC, Melissa manages and coordinates internal and external communications, including digital/print communications, social media, and public relations.
