Isabel Bodnar

Isabel is a Forester in Training and Fire Practitioner with a background in wildfire suppression and a growing focus on community-based wildfire resiliency and fire ecology. She is currently working as a Research Technician in the BVRC’s Fire Stewardship program. Isabel received her BSc in Forest Ecology and Management from the University of Northern British Columbia with a minor in Indigenous Ecological Knowledge in 2024. She is passionate about supporting innovative and community-minded forest practices through the use and management of fire. Originally from Vancouver Island, she’s excited to now be working in the Smithers area on Wet’suwet’en Territory and contributing to research on fire-adapted landscapes and knowledge sharing in the Northwest region.
