Steffy Howard-Stratton

Steffy has a degree in forestry from UBC, majoring in forest resources management. While earning her degree she completed two seasons of tree planting and fire-fighting during the summertime. Upon graduation she worked as a summer student for Interfor doing silviculture checks and layout for two years before moving on to a consulting firm for a year as a mapper in Kamloops. She earned her RPF in 2015 and landed a job with the BC government working as a planning forester for BC Timber Sales. Steffy was a planning forester for two years before moving back to her hometown of Smithers where she took on various roles in First Nations advising and land-use planning. Since 2019 she has specialized in Forest Landscape Planning and currently leads a small team within the Strategic Initiatives and Forest Landscape Planning division for the Ministry of Forests.
Outside of work Steffy enjoys all the activities the Bulkley Valley has to offer for an outdoor enthusiast including all types of skiing, hiking and trail running with her family and dog Chaco.
