Bulkley Valley Research Centre - Science in the Public Interest

Year of Science

Project Reference Number: 2011-11

Project Status: Complete

Led by: Rick Budhwa, Bulkley Valley Research Centre, Smithers

Funder: Year of Science

The Year of Science has contributed money towards the Bulkley Valley Research Centre's bi-weekly Seminar Series.

The Seminar Series is an important part of the BVRC’s outreach as it connects the local community with a diversity of researchers. Through this sharing of research results, the BVRC is fulfilling its mandate for extension and reaching an audience that is not exclusively science-based. This funding will help us expand the Seminar Series program by bringing in researchers from outside our local community.

“The research centre looks forward to expanding our Seminar Series by inviting speakers from outside the region to share their knowledge and results,” said BVRC research program manager Rick Budhwa. “With funding from the Year of Science, we can take this already popular event to a new level.”

The Year of Science is a provincial initiative aimed at engaging British Columbians in science by showcasing how science works and why science matters in British Columbia. The Bulkley Valley Research Centre is pleased to be recognized as contributing to the scientific knowledge base, both regionally and provincially.
