Knowledge Workshop: Nov 20, 2024
This event was an important first step in our project that brought together government, industry leaders, experts, community professionals and First Nations to review the current state of knowledge and share perspectives to enhance our understanding of local wildfire resilience.
Attendees gathered at the Hudson Bay Lodge for a day of knowledge sharing and collaborative workshops. After an introductory presentation about the project, participants worked in small groups to discuss the three main themes of the workshop: Fire Ecology, Fuel Management, and Proactive Fire Management. They were encouraged to share their knowledge and concerns following brief presentations.
The objective of the session was to identify knowledge gaps and explore potential implications and opportunities for proactively managing wildfire resilience. The discussions and outcomes from this session offered valuable guidance for the next version of the project team’s Knowledge Report. A summary of the workshop outcomes can be found here. The team extends its gratitude to all participants for sharing their insights and perspectives.
Future workshops are planned for 2025 and 2026.
