The purpose of the Knowledge Report is to establish a comprehensive understanding of what is known and what remains unclear about wildfire in the Bulkley Morice area. We are pleased to be issuing this draft for review and feedback, as part of an iterative process. Comments can be sent to BuMoWildfire@BVCentre.ca. The review period is open until October 30, 2026.

FEBRUARY 2026 PODS WORKSHOP SUMMARY
On February 12, twenty-five participants gathered for a workshop on the Bulkley-Morice PODs (Potential Operational Delineations) Pilot Project. The workshop included discussion on the background of the project, a review of the first iteration of PODs maps, and collaborative work to edit and improve these maps to better reflect the region and its unique features.

DECEMBER 2025 WORKSHOP MATERIALS
A third Wildfire Resilience Knowledge Workshop took place in Smithers in December. The agenda was structured to build foundational knowledge of wildfire behaviour and its simulation in modelling, explore wildfire hazard modelling, and discuss the design of learning scenarios for wildfire management.

2025 BULKLEY MORICE WILDFIRE RESILIENCE SURVEY
A survey was fielded to local land managers and stakeholders to explore wildfire-related knowledge, perceptions, and informational needs. This annual survey is designed to track changes in understanding and engagement over time to help guide future planning, engagement strategies, and management practices.

2025 OPEN HOUSE POSTERS
Public Open Houses took place in Houston, Granisle and Smithers between January and March. These posters were created to inform and inspire dialogue about the Wildfire Resiliency Pilot and its goals.
