Paul is a soil scientist (Ph.D. UBC, 1987) with field experience in BC, Yukon, NWT, and Alberta. After 4 years of post-docs and consulting in Vancouver and Edmonton, he spent 11 years as the Research Soil Scientist in the former Prince George Forest Region.
In 2002 Paul joined UNBC and taught courses in introductory soil science, forest soils, and soil genesis. His UNBC research continued some of the forestry-focused studies begun in the Forest Service and also branched into studies of how soils have recorded long-term environmental change in northwestern Canada. Paul retired from UNBC in September 2023, and plans to stay in PG.
